Community Cooperative Preschool offers three programs to match the needs of preschool-aged children in our community. No matter which program works for you and your child, the adult to child ratio will be about 1 to 5, much lower than most preschools in our area. In all programs, we try to maintain a balance between the number of girls and boys enrolled.

2-Day Morning Program
We created the 2-day program, which meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., in response to the numerous requests we received from community parents. Maybe this is your child’s first experience meeting other children in a large-group setting, or perhaps you like the flexibility of attending school only two days a week. Your child may be on the young or shy side, which makes this a perfect choice for his or her first school experience. Fully enrolled, this class may have up to 18 children, with two teachers and one or two parent assists. Children must be age 2.9 by September 1 (age 3 by December1).

3-Day Morning Program
Our traditional 3-day morning program, which meets Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:45 to 11:30 a.m., may have up to 18 children enrolled with two teachers and one or two parent assists. Children in the 3-day morning class must be age 3 by September 1.

In the 3-day morning class, 3- to 5-year-old children are together in a homogeneous group, although some activities may be geared to appeal more specifically to older or younger children. Grouping the different ages together approximates the family structure, with the emphasis on sharing and role observation, minus the intensity of the actual family structure. Older and younger children both gain within this setting by the important role modeling or imitation that takes place naturally.

4-Day Afternoon Program
Our 4-day afternoon program, which is made up of 4- to 5-year-olds, meets Monday through Thursday afternoons from 12:45 to 3:30 p.m. Your child must be age 4 by September 1 to be enrolled in this class. The afternoon class has a maximum of 14 children, with two teachers and one parent assist each day. Additional field trips, daily group circles, and projects are geared to a smaller and older group. In a recent survey, CCP afternoon-program parents said they liked the consistency of four school days in a row, the strong friendships that developed in the smaller class, and the emphasis on preparing children for kindergarten in a variety of ways.

Enrollment Procedures
We encourage you and your child to attend our Open House in early January to see our parents, teachers, and children in action. You may also want to meet a parent on our Enrollment Committee to get a private tour of the school or perhaps to make arrangements to spend some time with your child in class before making your decision. Our teachers are also happy to answer your questions. We want you to make an informed, confident decision.

Once you’ve made your decision, return your application and application fee before our deadline of February 1. In general, we give enrollment preference to returning students first, their younger siblings next, and then new families, in that order. We will hold our enrollment lottery in early February and inform you immediately about your status as either enrolled or on a waiting list.

For more information or for a tour during the school year, please call the school at 978-682-9006, or email us at info@communitycooperativepreschool.org. We'll get you started in the right direction.
