Community Cooperative Preschool has many unique benefits that go beyond the typical cooperative preschool:
Monthly Field Trips and Enrichment Programs
Trips include a simple walk to the post office to learn how the mail system works, or a hike up Weir Hill for nature exploration. Enrichment programs change from year to year, but in the past have included Curious Creatures and Eyes on Owls.
Green Cleaning and Recycling Program
Our school cares about our children's health. For that reason, we have chosen to clean with the green cleanser H2Orange2 Concentrate 117. This hydrogen peroxide-based cleanser is a Massachusetts Environmentally Preferable Product (which means it scores very well in toxicity and air quality tests) and yet it is powerful enough to be an EPA-registered sanitizer.
All materials that can be recycled are recycled. Our children will learn about this through a recycling curriculum topic.
Healthy Snacks
Parents rotate their role as Parent Assist in the classroom each month. In their role as Parent Assist, they supply the snack for the entire class. Snacks are required to be nut-free and healthy, including home baked goods, cheese sticks, fruit salad, hummus and vegetables, and much more. Parents are encouraged to share in the snack preparations with their children and can be as creative as they would like.
Peanut Free Environment
Exciting Annual Events include, but are not limited to:
- Yearly Beach Trip
- Relative Tea Party
- Father's Night
- Family Picnic
Monthly Newsletter
Free Parent Education Classes
Held monthly either at the school or on location, past topics have included "How to take better photos of your kids", Health and Nutrition, Allergies in Kids, Flight Safety Tips and much more, all taught by professionals.
